Geological Research and the Oil Information Library of Fort Worth, Texas

Welcome to the Oil Information Library of Fort Worth. (OIL-FW)  The library was founded in 1985, to encourage, foster, and promote scientific research in the fields of geological science and engineering.   The library is founded in extensive collections of scout cards, electric logs and driller's logs, as well as texts, treatises, field guides, and periodicals, many of which have been "buried" as data sources have merged and publications have gone digital.   This library is a non-profit 501C3; here to serve the needs of the Oil and Gas community.  With reciprocal agreements with numerous additional libraries, your data is at our fingertips.

We have extensive historical collections of scout cards, driller’s logs, electric logs, core reports and maps for Texas RRC districts 5, 6, 7B, 7C, 8, 8A, 9 and 10.  There is also coverage for districts 1 through  4.

We have excellent data in Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, and Wyoming historical scout ticket coverage.  New Collections and Data are always coming in.  In 2019 alone, OIL-FW received six contributions, including extensive Rockies cards, logs, and publications, as well as unique Texas logs.

Come check out historic John Wilson scout reports, UPR-Champlin collection, Jerry Stokes collection, Range Resources Oklahoma scout cards.   The key to your next prospect can be right here...drilling breaks, live oil reports, jeep and odor.

We provide free-of-charge, password protected WIFI for our members and guests. You are allowed to bring in laptops to work on, and there are also electrical outlets available to use, with work desks and cubicles.
The Oil Information Library is open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Our holiday schedule is also listed. In the case of inclement weather, please refer to the Fort Worth ISD closings schedule. If the Fort Worth Independent School District is closed, the Oil Information Library will be closed as well.

Day Rates, Membership and Research Rates:  No membership, no problem: We charge a day use fee and charge for copying data.  We have monthly and annual Membership opportunities.  Call for rates.  Call for information.

If you have a question about donation, please feel free to call our librarian.  As a 501C3, Oil Library can provide you with a thank you letter detailing your donation. However, we can not legally put a financial amount on your donation. We also accept monetary donations.

Make Your Donation Work for You:  A $75.00 donation provides you with a full up day membership to the Library.   Come in and browse and research your area(s) of interest.  If you join at a monthly, quarterly, or annual subscription, your $75.00 can be put toward that membership.  Please contact Library for Donations and Membership.  Less than $75?  No matter what, come in; see what's here and helpful to your research, and next prospect.
